Travelling with little ones? The Gulf of Orosei is made for family beach days. This guide gathers the coast's most child-friendly beaches, chosen for two things that matter most with young children: shallow, gently-sloping water where they can paddle safely, and a shady pine or juniper wood just behind the sand to cool off during the hottest hours.
A few of these beaches have no bar or shop, so pack water, snacks and plenty of sun protection. At low tide, several of them form warm, shallow pools — the little ones will love them. Your home comes with complimentary sun umbrellas and beach towels to bring along.
Probably the single best beach for small children near Orosei. The fine, rosy-tinged sand slips very gently into the sea, so the water stays shallow for a long stretch — and at low tide it leaves warm little pools that are perfect for toddlers to splash in.
Right behind the beach is a shady wood of junipers and pines, ideal for a cool break, a picnic or a nap out of the midday sun. There is parking and a beach bar, so it is an easy, well-equipped day out; it can get fairly busy in high summer thanks to the nearby resorts.

A striking little canal with vivid colours runs beside the beach and adds to the sense of unspoilt nature. There is a paid car park (around €5/day) and a bar, but otherwise few facilities, so come prepared.

That little cove is the family-friendly spot — calmer, shallower and easy for children to play in, and good for a first go at snorkelling too.
A lovely pine forest runs alongside the beach, perfect for a shady afternoon, and the Osala stream flows down to the sea crossed by small bridges. Free parking and kiosks nearby.

Access by car is limited to a set number of vehicles each day from May to the end of October, so it is worth arriving early or booking ahead — the pay-off is an uncrowded, wonderfully clean beach day.

Three large rocks rise from the water a little way out, easy to reach thanks to the shallow bottom — a fun goal for confident young paddlers. A short, easy walk through a thick pine grove links it to Cala Ginepro.
There are several bars and services here, making it one of the more convenient family beaches on this stretch of coast.
📍 Cala Liberotto Google MapsA little further north (in Siniscola), Berchida is a five-kilometre half-moon of soft white sand and shallow, turquoise water that stays low for a long way out — ideal for children. Centuries-old junipers grow right down to the sand, forming natural shady huts to shelter under.
You'll find kiosk-bars, beach equipment and canoe and pedalo rentals. Good to know: the final ~3.5 km is an unpaved road and parking is paid (around €12/day), so allow extra time to get there.

Marina di Orosei, the beach closest to town, is convenient but the seabed can deepen suddenly and it is often breezy and popular with surfers — keep a close eye on little ones there, or choose one of the gently-shelving beaches above instead.
